Tanned and Protected. How to Tan Your Skin Quickly and Safely

Bronzeada e Protegida. Como Bronzear a Pele Rapidamente e em Segurança

Any queen of the golden tone knows that, once you have achieved your dream tan, in a healthy and safe way, there is something that cannot be neglected: its maintenance.

There are several factors to consider when looking to get a quick, natural tan without sacrificing skin health. And because even using sunscreen, sunbathing will never be risk-free, it's best to stay up to date with everything you need to know to look even more beautiful in a healthy way.

How to get a tan faster?

To avoid prolonged exposure to the Sun and achieve a natural tan more quickly, start by using a sunscreen with SPF 30 (never use a tanning oil without a UV protection factor) and make sure to apply the product every two hours. SPF 30 is strong enough to block UVA rays, but not so strong that it stops you from getting a tan.

At the beach or pool, when exposed to solar radiation, change your position frequently (this will help you avoid burning a part of your body). Eat foods rich in beta-carotene – carrots, kale and sweet potatoes – to help increase your tone while staying protected (according to some research, this substance has a strong possibility of helping to reduce the sensitivity of certain people to the Sun) . Also eat foods that contain lycopene – tomatoes and watermelon – which, according to some research, also help you stay protected.

Using natural oils – avocado, coconut or carrot oil – can be very useful to provide you with greater hydration and protection during sun exposure.

Quality time in the sun

Do not expose yourself to the Sun for longer than necessary for your skin to reach its melanin (pigment responsible for tanning). We all have a melanin cutoff point, which usually corresponds to two or three hours. After this time, your skin will not be able to get darker that same day.

Preparing your skin before leaving the house can help your tan last longer. Try exfoliating your skin before tanning, as skin that hasn't been exfoliated is more likely to flake.

The sun is strongest between 10 am and 4 pm, so this is the period when you should take extra care. However, after these hours, you must continue to protect yourself.

Avoid the solarium .

There is no doubt that solarium contributes to premature skin aging. Furthermore, there is strong evidence that these are associated with an increased risk of cancer. Avoid this resource and prioritize sun rays in a measured way (remember that, at the same time, you will also be balancing your vitamin D levels).

Wear body makeup .

A strategically placed glow on your skin can help you elongate your limbs while highlighting a natural tan. Slather a golden body oil on your collarbones and legs for a summer cheer-inducing glow.

Stay hydrated .

Hydration from the inside out is essential to keep your skin soft and prolong your tan. Drink plenty of water, especially when exposed to the sun. Also use a moisturizer to nourish dry skin and prevent flaking.
